Is It Time For A HealthCare Czar?

With the complexities and intricacies of America’s Healthcare being what it is, I believe that the time is right for the creation of a position of healthcare specialist or czar within government. A position where policy can be analyzed and reviewed, health care systems and healthcare delivery from other countries studied with the possibility of incorporating viable aspects of other plans into our healthcare system.

Either a sole position chaired by an individual with high moral values and ethics, who would be responsible only to the people and the President and insulated from any lobbyist or special interests or perhaps a position structured similar perhaps to that of the Federal Reserve Board, where several members advise a chairman. Such a position could analyze events and situations as the happen, in real time, and current, for a more efficient and timely response to our nations healthcare needs.

Those who are to be considered for the position should be someone without any ties to special interests or lobbyists, and someone who will see and use this government position as a stepping stone to a future lucrative position in the private sector.

It is time that legislation be passed to prevent those that work within an administration or have a sensitive position within government from being able to resign or retire during their tenure and then turn around and use their connections for corporations and interest groups as seems to be the standard today.
