Healthcare policy like many government programs and policy's seem to be made in the middle of the night, by a chosen few and only after consultation with special interests groups and lobbyists. Many of the advantages and benefits given to the health insurance industry in the form of legislation and policy have seemingly occur in such a manner. I invite everyone to read and study the passage of the Medicare Modernization Act as a prime example of special interests seeking to pass programs which are costly and of questionable value to America. Its no wonder that some have estimated that lobbyist spend an average of $10 million a day in their efforts. We the people do not have that access, advantage or finances. We are not asked what it is that we need, or desire or expect. The only thing we have, is the wisdom and integrity of our leaders and hope that they do what is right. As change is in the wind, what we need is a new era of openness and transparency in government.
The era of secrecy needs to end.
Transparency and openness will assure that healthcare policy reflects the needs of the country and the people who will be impacted by them and not a chosen few.
